How this calculator works

Carbohydrate grams = daily energy x carbohydrate percentage / 400. The denominator combines division by 100 for the percentage and the general 4-kcal-per-gram conversion.

Worked example

At 1800 kcal/day with 45% carbohydrate, 810 kcal come from carbohydrate, giving 202.5 g/day. Entering 0.45 instead of 45 would yield 2.025 g/day, a hundred-fold percentage-entry error.

Limitations and safety notes

Different labeling systems handle fiber and some carbohydrates differently. A daily gram total cannot predict meal-specific glycemic response or verify the nutritional adequacy of a selected fraction.

Frequently asked questions

Does the result include a meal distribution?

No. Meal timing, portion distribution and treatment plans are separate decisions, not implied by dividing a daily total.
